Gingerbread houses

Mesquite elementary had a family Feast party and every family get to decorate gingerbread houses.

I think this was their first gingerbread house decoration ever. They did great! Had so much fun!

Michael's house in the black container and Enoch's house in the clear container. Peter made a snowman with three mushmellows.

Playing together

When Enoch is at school, sometimes it's very hard when Michael and Peter just have each other, they seem to be always bugging each other. But there are times, when they play so well together and I feel so happy to see them bound as brothers.

One morning Michael and Peter played soccer on the grass then played on the trampoline, using the entrance as the goal. Then tonight these two just went to the toy room to play, you can hear them laughing together.

The other night while Michael was practice piano, Enoch and Peter played chasing games. I was surprised to see that Peter actually can play well and keep up with Enoch and Michael now. Time really flies, I still remember Peter as a baby and now he is just a big boy like his brothers.

I love that they can do more and more things together now, they have less and less gap, they include Peter in more and more things they do. I hope you three stay best brothers. Love you three!

Birthday gift

Enoch said to me, "Tomorrow afternoon I am going to ask daddy to take Michael and me to the store to buy you birthday gift. You and Peter can have quiet time. You can put Peter to sleep. We are not going to take you with us because its a surprise birthday gift." OK sounds good to me! Love this sweet and clever boy of mine!!

Can we save some for daddy? 可以留一些给爸爸吗?

We were eating the turkey chocolate that grandma grandpa gave us. There was only the bottom part of chocolate left and I was eating it... Enoch asked me " 可以留一些给爸爸吗?" awww what a sweet boy!

Croup

Since being back from Mexico thanksgiving our boys have been sick. They went through a round of stomach flue with puking and then Peter started to have a fever the night before, and have a weezing sound (which was corrected by the doctor as a strider sound). Last night I felt horrible, he was having a really hard time keeping his breath. He didn't cough a lot, but every time he did it was painful for him, I can tell. After calling his pediatrician, I decided to take him to the ER. Our neighbor Loraine came to take Enoch and Michael to sleep at her house guest room. Sam happened to be working at the ER last night so he came to visit us during work. But he was too busy and had to go back to work. We got checked in, the Dr gave Peter Steroids meds, breathing treatment.   He got better and then worse again, so they gave him another breathing treatment, and waited another two hours until the steroids kicked in. Peter was cheerful as long as he could breath better and play with iPad. We got discharged around 1am.

On the way to the ER, Peter was so sick during the car ride, he would make laboring breathing sound, and ask me to hold him. "Mommy can you hold me?" 'Mommy can you hold my hand?" I started to pancake, I had a slight feeling that there is chance of losing him!! I started crying. It was a scary moment to me. I hope I never had to experience that again with any of my kids.

I am Enoch

I think these are the words Enoch wrote about himself on the paper man he made:

I am sneacy (sneaky)
I am a (an) artist
I am careful on the mountains
I am Enoch

grass monster

I caught a grasshopper outside and gave it to the kids. they've been in love with it this past week. the grasshopper lost one back leg when I was trying to catch it. and then lost another during the time Michael and Peter were playing with it. and this morning, it died after being sick for a few days. we've tried to feed it lettuce, water, oats and even cotton balls(Enoch's choice). sadly it went rigid and died this morning. Michel was really sad and wants to find a new one.

Peter always calls it "grass monster" which was really cute! and in the first pic the boys built a duplo box they called "grasshopper 'S house" to trap the grasshopper in there. I can see that they really likes the grasshopper a lot.

They even have this fake grass for the grasshopper to play on.

Santa

Enoch just asked me " how is Santa going to come in our house this year?" I said without thinking " go down the chimney!" Enoch said " We don't have one! How is he going to get in?" Um...

Aunt Shelley came from Antarctica

So Enoch was showing me all the things he learned about bugs from "Bugs by the number". I asked who gave him the book, he said " I know, Aunt Shelley. She came from Antarctica, a very cold place." Haha He just read a book about penguins at Antarctica a few days ago and I think he thought every place that has ice is called "Antarctica". I couldn't resist laughing

Money is paper!

This morning while I was still sleeping , Enoch walked to my bed and said he wanted to give me $5 for the pony ride, I touched the edge of something like paper (i thought it was really $5 bill) and told him to just leave the "money" on my night stand. And I woke up to this "money". When I told Enoch and Michael that they still owe me $5 each for the pony ride. Enoch said " but I already gave you 5 dollars." I said, "that's just a piece of paper!", then Michael said " but money is paper." Well, they got me there...

First Day of School conclusions

Here are Enoch's words for his first day of school:

I like kindergarten, but I think it's kind of long;
I don't want Michael to go to kindergarten next year, because I'm worried that he might get tired;
Some kids really didn't do very well, but I was doing really well;
Mom you were wrong, I did really well in school but there was no time for prize:( ( I did tell him that he can get a prize on Fridays if he behave);

-What did you have for lunch?  - I didn't buy anything.

- Did Ms. H (chinese teacher) teach anything today? -No, I think Mrs B (English teacher) didn't have time for Ms. H to teach chinese.

Some kids really like to talk loud, they really didn't want to listen;

Yep, I think he got it.

Enoch's first day of Kindergarten!

Today is Enoch's first day of Kindergarten at the Mesquite Elementary School Chinese Immersion program. Enoch's teachers were Mrs. Bohnsack and Ms.Hu. We dropped Enoch off at school this morning, he found his name tag and settled in his table. His table-mates are Noah, Lucas, Mariana (Mady), and Alexis. Hope Enoch gets to know them and make some friends! Peter was sitting on one of the kids' chairs and ready to color when I told him it's time to go. Of course, it was a sad sad morning for him.

Michael and Peter got to go to the Loft kids fest with me to watch "Bears" and it was a success! They loved it

Now to wait till time to pick up Enoch and find out how he liked his first day of school. So proud of you Enoch!

It's boring...

Enoch sad today dad playing at a playground is boring and riding bikes at home is boring too. He said he wanted to ride bikes at the park. Wonder where he got the ideas from and he said that from nobody ;)

Tough guy

Recently Enoch has been asking me a lot of tough guy questions. Do tough guys get cold? Are tough guys afraid of giants? Do tough guys do what their moms and dads tell them to? Are tough guys shy?

It's fun. I found out he doesn't ask Sharon any of these questions. I can tell he wants to be a tough guy.

Spit it

My favorite part of the day today was playing spot it with Enoch and Michael. Enoch usually eat dinner slower than Michael. Michael finished 1st and I played  it with Michael 3 times. On the 3rd time I let Michael Win and he was so excited and so happy it was very fun. When Enoch started playing he actually beat me, he is very good

Road of poop

Today in Enoch and Michael saw a bobcat in grandma and Grandpas backyard. They thought it was a cheetah. Enoch said that it drank from the swimming pool and then jumped over the wall to the road of poop.

Games

Enoch is old enough where he really understands games now. It's great. I've been waiting for this moment for a long time. Played mancala yesterday and Othello today. Excited to teach checkers and chess!

Enoch writes Chinese beautifully

Nobody

Read goodnight moon with Peter today, Enoch and Michael sitting beside me. Got to the point where it says "nobody" and looked at Enoch. He used to log that part. There was no reaction, so I looked at him and said it again. He said 知道了知道了。 reminded me how fast they grow up!

Enoch's 5th birthday

Today is Enoch's 5th birthday. We started out with donuts and chocolate milk for breakfast. Then Enoch opened gifts from us. Played with legos, and then angry bird games. We will be going to chuck-e-cheese for dinner and games. Followed by free icecream from Diary Queen. And then Enoch will come home to webcam with grandparents and open gifts from them. We were saying that Enoch is spoiled for this birthday. Probably will be the best birthday for years. Daddy was able to stay home with us all day! BTW, daddy knew today that he matched!

Why is it still big here?

Showed Enoch a pic of me when I was pregnant with Michael at 37 weeks. Enoch then reached for my chest, and said "why is it still big here?" Haha thanks for the complement son ;)

Allergy skin test

Enoch has been having running nose for over 4 months now. After 3 rounds of antibiotics, still not good. So we had to do allergy skin test to find out what he was allergic to. Poor Enoch had to go through that. Feel so bad for him. He takes it after his mommy. I had to do skin test in college for having severe skin rashes and then got shots for a whole year after that. Just want to let you know that you are not alone, Enoch. Love you!

The picture show the back panels. They also did about 8 needles on each arm. Even with numbing cream, I think it still hurt quite a lot.

Gun instructions

These are instructions that he drew telling you how to make a gun step by step. Notice that the numbers are both in English and Chinese. Pretty creative!

Not going to grow up again

Sharon said that when she grows up she wants to have a mansion. Enoch said, "but  Mommy your not going to grow up again."

Hoth #10

Turns out that enoch remembered incorrectly. The level he was thinking of was hoth #10. We both played it for about half an hour and even I could not beat it. In the very end somehow he beat the level. I don't know how he did it but he beat it even when I couldnt figure it out. Now he is officially better at angry birds than i am.

Cloud city #1

Find for the past few days Enoch has been talking about a level in Angry birds that he was not able to compete successfully. He hasn't played in days but he keeps talking about it over and over again. He has been saying that he thinks he figured out a  way to beat it. This morning he woke Sharon and I up with a picture that he drew of cloud  city number one. He was explaining where the piggies are and how to get them with the birds. This is often his memory of what it was like playing that level several days ago.  He really really really likes angry birds.

Teamwork

Playing together

At chic fil a while Enoch is seeing ophthalmologist. Love how Michael and Peter play together. They would be so bored alone! Peter is waiting for Michael to go down slide. If Enoch were here it would be three best friends playing together.

Watch you sleep

I love to walk into your room and watch the three of you sleep. I think I'm going to miss this period of time so much when you all grow up and have your own rooms. I'm crying a little btw. I love you three so much! You are all amazing little boys! I'm so glad that you have each other. I hope you love each other and have each other's back at all times, even when you grow up or grow old.

Doggy for Peter

Enoch drew this dog for Peter and taped it here for him all by himself because he knows Peter likes dogs.

Saying "I love you!"

I am so glad that all of you are not shy when it comes the time to say " I love you!" I enjoy you telling me that often, and I need it often. I love you Enoch, Michael and Peter! You are raised to voice your love more openly and comfortably. I was not raised that way, and I am still learning to be more open about my love. You three boys remind me all the time that if you love somebody, you tell them and make sure they know. Thanks my babies!

Favorite thing of the day

Had a somewhat busy day. View from JPMorgan Chase Tower 60th floor. Also walked houston downtown tunnels for the first time. Then in the afternoon, Daddy took the boys to the library and then a great park to play while I had my doctor appt. By the end of the day, we asked our boys what their favorite thing was today, Michael said " eating dinner!" And Enoch said "playing Angry Birds games on daddy's Nexus!" Yeah, pretty much sums it up ;)

snakes

The belt on the air conditioning is loose or old. The car makes a very loud screeching sound whenever it is turned on if the AC is also on. It only lasts a few seconds. I always think it's cute because whenever it happens the kids think that there are snakes in the car.

Backwash

Yummy

sweet potatoes

As long as we can remember, Enoch has always eaten all the skin off his sweet potatoes. He's the only one who has ever done it. Yesterday, I asked him if he liked eating the skin. He emphatically said no. We all laughed. I told him he didn't have to eat it, that we never eat it and peel it off. He looked very surprised. I wonder where he got the idea he had to eat it the skin

reading in bed

We've played a nice trick on the kids. We've convinced them that reading to each other in bed before bedtime is the funnest thing ever. Sometimes they use flashlights, which really does seem fun. But usually it's just with the lights on and the door closed and they read books together before I turn the lights off. It doesn't happen every day, but when it does it's a treat. I can even bribe them with it.

Don't get me wrong, we do read to you kids at night and you've always had a nice bedtime routine. But it just amazes me that now I can send you to be extra early to read books, and you're all excited for it :-)

Waffles

Sharon made waffles with Enoch and michael today. At dinner, when talking about the favorite parts of our day today, Enoch said it was making waffles. I think that melted Sharon's heart. Good thing because I think it's always frustrating doing that kind of thing with the boys.... But its all worth it when they say things like that!

Reading

Enoch is quite the reader. Grandma and other aunts and uncles were very impressed with his reading skills in Arizona. He doesn't just memorize words but he's sounds them out and reads them. He constantly reads words near perfectly that he has never seen before.

Here are some of the words that he bad today that shocked me -- thorax, belly, abdomen. It was really fun to hear him read the word abdomen. Of course it is a word that he doesn't know, but he actually pronounced it correctly on his 1st try.

He is one smart kid.

About 6 months ago or maybe longer, I used to sit down with Enoch a lot and help him read. We spent a lot of time reading elephants cannot dance. I made him sound out every word. I told him not to cheat whenever it became obvious that he was repeating correctly or incorrectly memorized words. He got extremely frustrated. After 20 or 30 minutes he always got really tired. I could tell that meant he was thinking hard and his brain was hard at work. I haven't done much with him for the past 6 months, but he seems to have really taken all the lessons I gave him and learned a lot all by himself.

On a somewhat related note, he has also kinda been a spaz with jumping Jacks. I have had a hard time teaching him to do them correctly. His arms and legs just never seem to move in sync. Today before bed he was very fidgety and I wanted him to get rid of his energy. I sent some more time trying to teach him how to do jumping Jacks. 15 minutes later I was very gratified to see him do 10 jumping jacks in a row correctly. Not bad!
